The Baphuon temple, constructed in the mid-11th century, is now over 970 years old. Initially dedicated to the Hindu god Shiva, it was later converted into a Theravada Buddhist temple. Unique for its three-tiered temple mountain design, it represents the Baphuon style with elaborate carvings. Unlike other temples, Baphuon played a significant role in both Hinduism and Buddhism, reflecting the religious transition in Cambodia.
